Appalachians
Appalachia covers a downright rugged area where many migrants from Ireland and Scotland felt at home after crossing the Atlantic. Before them, the Cherokee flourished for centuries here. These ancient mountains are much older than the Rockies and have been worn and sculpted by the hands of time, patiently molding them into a paradise of beauty. Their crystal clear waters, flowing gently and violently around rocks and boulders from the mountaintops, are filled with mountain trout and framed by fragrant Rhododendrons. These scenographic rivers and streams make their way like the magnificent movement of a ballet to join the waters of Earth’s oceans.
With all their natural beauty, the Appalachians are also the home to bustling metropolitan areas and charming small towns. There is a plethora of things to do from fine dining to homey cafes. Eco tours and snow skiing. There’s even theme parks celebrating the culture of the region.
Here, you can find Native American history, Appalachian homesteads and exhibits, and vast expanses of magnificent wilderness. The culture that allowed survival here is still present in many of the backways. Folklore is still whispered and even popularized with National Storytelling Festivals. Highland Festivals celebrate the legacy of Scots-Irish settlers.
So sign up today. The mountains are calling.
